I was thinking about the vigil held for Kiair Abdellatif not long after the tragedy. It must have been an incredibly difficult event for his family and friends, but also a testament to the community's solidarity and desire for change. It's sad how his murder seems to highlight a much larger issue with gun violence in Syracuse. The fact that organizations like Mothers Against Gun Violence were there underscores the importance of these groups in advocating for a safer environment. I can't even imagine the pain his loved ones are still feeling, knowing how little progress has been made in solving his case. Hopefully, gatherings like the vigil can inspire more people to step forward with any information that might help bring some closure to his family.
