I've been following the case of Xavier Trent Igus, and something that's been really weighing on my mind is the environment around the Budgetel Inn & Suites. It's disturbing to think about how a place like that, which should be a temporary refuge for travelers, could turn into a site of tragedy so easily. Xavier didn’t deserve what happened, and it makes me think about how the area's history of violence might play a role in crimes like these. It seems like change is needed, not just in terms of law enforcement, but also as a community effort to ensure that these locations are safe for everyone. My thoughts are with Xavier’s family and friends. They have lost someone truly special, and no one should have to endure that kind of pain. I hope Columbus will rally together not only to seek justice but also to prevent future tragedies.
