Hey everyone, I've been following the Garrett Wilson case, and one thing that's been on my mind is the lack of street lighting in the area where the shooting happened. It's troubling to think about how poorly lit streets can sometimes contribute to these tragic incidents. The intersection of North Illinois Street and East Prairie Avenue is not exactly well-lit at night, and I wonder if better lighting could have deterred this crime or at least allowed for quicker identification of any suspects. I can’t begin to imagine how Garrett’s family and friends are coping with this immense loss. It's truly devastating that someone so young had his life stolen from him in such a senseless way. I’m really hoping the authorities consider small safety measures like improving lighting in this area to help prevent future tragedies. Has anyone else from the Decatur area noticed this issue with lighting? Would love to hear your thoughts or whether there’s been any community action on this front. Stay safe, everyone. ?
