Hey everyone, I've been following the tragedy of Eric Simmons III and just can't stop thinking about the impact on his classmates and friends at Carver High School. Losing someone your age in such a shocking way must be incredibly difficult for those kids. I remember being 17, worrying about exams or college, not ever imagining you could lose a friend like that. I think it's important that we keep the students in our thoughts and maybe think about ways to support them during this tough time. I've read there's some talk about starting counseling sessions at the school to help with the grieving process, which sounds like a good start. If anyone knows more about how these kids and their families are holding up, or about any community efforts to help them, please share. It's heartbreaking to see a young life lost, and it puts into perspective how crucial it is for us to come together as a community. Let's hope the police get some leads soon and that justice is served for Eric and his family.

Just heard about the tragic loss of Eric Simmons III in the Hollygrove neighborhood, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. I can't even begin to imagine what they're going through right now. ? I've been thinking a lot about the safety of students on their way home from school. Schools should be a sanctuary, and the route home shouldn't be a gamble. Wasn't Stroelitz Street a regular route for students heading home from Carver High? It's so upsetting to think that such violence happened in a place where kids are supposed to feel safe. Has anyone else heard about any community initiatives or discussions to increase safety for students walking to and from school? I think it's crucial for us to come together and look out for each other in the wake of this senseless violence. It's hard to fathom that something like this could happen on a typical afternoon, and it's so important for us as a community to rally together and demand action. If anyone has any information on efforts to improve safety in the area or how to support Eric’s family during this horrific time, please share. Together, we need to find a way to make our community safer and keep the memory of Eric alive by preventing future tragedies.
