I’ve been thinking a lot about the community’s response and how neighbors describe James Edward Hubbard Jr. Everyone seemed to have something kind to say about him, whether they had known him well or just in passing. The sense of loss seems so profound. I read in one tribute how he would often go out of his way to help others, even if it was just something like carrying groceries for an elderly neighbor or checking in on friends when life got tough. I can’t help but wonder how many lives he touched in small, meaningful ways that won’t ever make it into the headlines. Forrest City must feel so different without his presence around, especially in a community where it sounds like everyone is so connected. I’m hoping the support for his family stays strong. It’s an unimaginable situation, and my thoughts are with them as they navigate through this.
