I can't stop thinking about how sudden and senseless this all is. I walk by 6th and Pine Streets sometimes, and it's haunting to think about what happened that night. I've also been hearing a lot about the growing tension among teens in the area lately. Could peer pressure or gang influence have played a role here? It's terrifying how quickly life can change, and my heart goes out to Nathan's and Kaleb's families. I hope they find some peace knowing that people are rallying around them, even if it's just through a small contribution to the GoFundMe. The tight-knit community really needs to come together to prevent tragedies like this from happening again.
I can't stop thinking about what kind of impact this has on Nathan and Kaleb's classmates and teachers at Newark High School. I can't imagine how traumatic it must be for them to lose not one, but two friends in such a violent manner. Schools are supposed to be a safe space for our kids, where they make memories and friendships that last a lifetime. Now, these students have to grapple with grief and the reality of gun violence hitting so close to home. I hope the school is providing enough support and counseling for them through this devastating time. Does anyone know if there have been any initiatives or community vigils in honor of Nathan and Kaleb? My thoughts are with everyone affected by this senseless tragedy.
