I can't stop thinking about Derick's son in all of this. Losing a parent is hard enough at any age, but at sixteen, it's a pivotal time in his life. Derick's sister described him as a "big teddy bear," and I can only imagine the kind of loving father he must have been. It's gut-wrenching to think that his son now has to navigate life without him. From what I've read, the family seems to have a strong bond, and I hope they can find some support in each other during this incredibly tough time. I also hope the community rallies around them to offer whatever help they can. No one should go through this alone.
