I just can't wrap my head around the fact that James Randall Martindale was just going about his day when his life ended so violently in front of the Food Lion. It’s a real tragedy for his family and friends. I’ve seen reports mentioning that Joshua Jontay Hasty, the suspect, was out on the street despite having a felony conviction. Does anyone else feel like this is a crucial point that needs more attention? Why was he allowed to carry a firearm at all? It’s worrying that someone with a record could be in that position, and I wonder if there are aspects of the system that aren’t working to protect people. I hope this case highlights any gaps so something can be done to prevent more families from going through this pain. If there are checks in place that failed, those responsible should be held accountable too.
