It's so hard to wrap my mind around this tragedy at the H-E-B parking lot, especially being so close to home. I keep thinking about Beatrize Murrillo-Molina and Jeronimo Aleman Ramirez and how terrifying that night must have been for everyone involved. My heart goes out to their families who are left to piece together fragments of what led to such a devastating outcome. One thing that's been bothering me about the reports is the focus on Lorenzo Aleman's motives and actions, which of course are crucial, but I can't help but feel there's not enough focus on the lives of Beatrize and Jeronimo. They were people with families and stories, not just figures in a tragic narrative. It's sad that their stories are overshadowed by the dramatic circumstances of their deaths. Perhaps it's a reminder of how important it is to remember who they were beyond this tragedy. I hope their loved ones find some comfort in knowing the community stands with them.
