Hey everyone,
I've been following the case of Rashad Baylor's tragic death in South Richmond, and something that's been on my mind is the community's reaction there. Hillside Court has always had its struggles, but from the reports and a few conversations I've had with folks in the area, it seems like this incident has really rattled them. It’s sad how gun violence alters a sense of safety and trust in these neighborhoods.
A lot of people there feel like they're constantly looking over their shoulders, worried about what might happen next. The community gatherings meant for healing and support show resilience, but one can tell there's an underlying weariness. I can't imagine having to navigate daily life under such stress, alongside the fear of transferring that anxiety to loved ones.
It's troubling that there haven't been any arrests yet. I really hope someone comes forward with information to help the investigation. Rashad deserved better, and I hope justice is served soon. It's essential for his family to find some peace and for the community to start rebuilding that sense of security.
Thinking of everyone affected and hoping Detective Tovar gets the break they need.

I keep thinking about how Rashad's loved ones must feel right now, processing all that's happened. It’s just so unfair that another family is dealing with such a tragic situation. I know the community is really shaken by what happened. Hillside Court has its struggles, but it's still home to so many people who care about each other.
I’m hopeful people will come forward with any information they have. Even the smallest detail might be what detectives need to find out what happened on that horrible night. This case was especially devastating to a lot of people. He was loved by many and can't understand why nobody is saying anything. Ive spoken to people very close to him and nothing sits well with me. On top of that , his Mom had just left him, on her birthday, and by the time she got home someone was calling her to tell her what happened. Too many people were outside to not know what happened. I tried to get him to stop going around there, but for him to be so loved , somebody needs to speak up. Never any new updates and roo many different stories. I pray for his family daily! And his girlfriend at the time was in a new relationship by Aug, not even 2 months after she watched him get shot, and had been with him for 2 yrs. And weird that another one of her exes was shot on Nine Mile Rd just a yr before Rashad. He died some months following. I just pray that his family gets the peace they deserve. He didnt deserve that!

How very sad. You are so right that he didn't deserve that. It is very odd the girlfriend had another boyfriend that was shot and was in a new relationship in 2 months. Wonder if it could be someone obsessed with her? The 'if I can't have you, nobody can' kind of person. Maybe if they looked into her past relationships of people close to he they might find information or I can be way off base.

Trust when I say, nobody is obsessed with that female. She has a revolving door...smh.From what I know, they dont stay long and if they do its bc their options are paper thin. But it all happened bc she wanted to see a fight. Rashad stopped a fight between his god daughter and another girl. He stopped it but she kept egging it on. Then all hell broke loose. I just pray his Mama, his sister and close family members finally get the answers they need and deserve. It was senseless. 40 plus yr old still want to cause chaos.

They made an arrest for Rashad's murder! Im so glad his family can start to heal! It was his god daughter, which is sad. But the whole story was crazy and still should not have happened. I feel someone else should be locked up for instigating a situation that led to it. There was more than one person shooting that night from what Ive been told from numerous people. I miss my friend!
