Patrick O’Neill was 17 and a Deptford High School senior when he was killed after returning to his family home on Almonesson Road on October 30, 1975. He had worked a half-day at a construction job through a cooperative education program and is believed to have come in through a back door, possibly interrupting a burglary. Investigators say he was confronted in the kitchen and shot multiple times in the head at close range. A friend who stopped by about 40 minutes later to return an eight-track tape found his body on the kitchen floor.

A television taken from the house was later found in the backyard. No arrests have ever been made. The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office revisited the case and announced in 2010 that new information and leads were being pursued; detectives were reported to have people of interest and were conducting new interviews. The O’Neill family, especially his brother Michael, has continued to appeal for information and a significant reward has been offered for tips leading to an arrest and conviction.

If anyone knew Patrick, his routines, or noticed suspicious activity near Almonesson Road around that time, can you come forward with what you remember?
