Minerva Hill was found dead near the Paulsboro water tower, close to Berkley Road and Swedesboro Avenue, on Sunday, June 10, 1979. She was 23, African-American, had recently returned to Paulsboro from Florida, and was staying with her aunt on Swedesboro Avenue.

Investigators determined Hill died of blunt force trauma to the head. Her body was fully clothed and wrapped in a sheet, leading authorities to conclude she had likely been killed elsewhere and moved to the open area where she was discovered. Despite repeated appeals to the public, no arrests have been announced and no clear suspects identified.

This remains an unsolved homicide and one of Gloucester County’s cold cases. If anyone remembers Minerva, her movements after returning to Paulsboro, or saw anything near the water tower area in early June 1979, please come forward with information.
