Patricia Marie Viola was a 42-year-old mother and wife who disappeared from her Bogota, New Jersey home on February 13, 2001. Her husband came home to find the house empty; Patricia’s purse, keys, and her epilepsy medication were left behind. Immediate searches, including air and canine efforts, turned up nothing.
In July 2002 a dismembered left foot washed ashore on a Queens beach, about 45 miles from her home. The remains were collected, and in September 2012 DNA testing identified the foot as Patricia’s. Her cause of death has never been determined and the case is classified as a homicide. No arrests or publicly named suspects have been announced.
The timeline has a stark gap between her walking out of the house and the later recovery and identification of remains. If anyone knew Patricia, saw her around February 13, 2001, or has information about her movements after she left home, please come forward.
