On a Tuesday morning in June 2006, the partially clothed body of 27-year-old Desiree D. McGraw was found behind the Jericho Fire Company on Mail Avenue in Deptford, New Jersey. A firefighter checking the building’s perimeter before polling places opened discovered her. Investigators determined she had been killed by a single gunshot to the back of the head in what authorities described as an execution-style slaying.

Desiree grew up in Maple Shade and had been a promising student and softball pitcher. She later struggled with addiction to drugs including crack cocaine and heroin, and had multiple arrests for drug offenses, disorderly conduct, and prostitution. Authorities believe she was killed at the scene where her body was found and have not ruled out a drug-related motive; her family suspects she may have stolen from a dealer. The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office continued investigating her death and eliminated some suspects but had made no arrest. An $8,000 reward remains available for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Did anyone in the Deptford or Camden area know Desiree or have information that could help bring her killers to justice?
