On the evening of Saturday, July 28, 2007, a neighbor checked on 64-year-old Lockey M. Mitten at her home in the Colonial Estates Mobile Home Park in Williamstown, New Jersey, and found her deceased on the living room sofa. Authorities determined she had been the victim of a homicide; her throat had been slashed. The last confirmed sighting of Lockey was about 5:30 p.m. the previous day, leaving a window of time in which the attack occurred.

Investigators reported no signs of forced entry and no indication that anything was taken, suggesting robbery was not the motive. Lockey, a widow originally from Baltimore, had lived in the Williamstown area since 1968 and retired from N.J. Bell and Verizon in 1999. She is survived by two daughters, four grandchildren, a brother, and her dog Patrick. The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Monroe Township Police Department have not publicly identified suspects or announced arrests; a $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

If anyone knew Lockey, lived in Colonial Estates in 2007, or has information about that evening, please come forward.
