I've been following the tragic case of Angel Capers, and it's truly upsetting to see how failed protections played a part in this senseless loss. It's chilling to think that even after reporting violations of a protection order, the system couldn't prevent her tragic fate. From what I've read, she did everything she could to seek help, from adding security measures at home to reaching out to authorities multiple times. As a mother and veteran, she deserved to feel safe in her own home. It's heartbreaking for her three children to have to grow up without their mother, knowing that these fears were real and ongoing. Reading about Angel's life and her service to the country makes the loss even more profound. It leaves me questioning what more can be done to ensure that protection orders actually protect those most vulnerable. My thoughts are with her family during this unimaginably difficult time.
