Has anyone else been looking into the effect Hurricane Irene had on emergency services' response times in the Vermont area? It seems like the chaos and disruption might have played a role in search and rescue efforts for people like Maidie Gibbs. It's been bothering me how the floods might have overwhelmed the local resources, potentially delaying or complicating the search. With so many families displaced and the area in turmoil, it makes you wonder if more could have been done to coordinate large-scale searches amid the disaster. I'm curious if anyone has come across any insights or firsthand accounts regarding how emergency teams managed during that intense period.
Does anyone else find it intriguing how Maidie Gibbs was last seen near Woodlawn Cemetery just as the flooding began? Cemeteries are often on slightly elevated ground, or at least I think they are, to help with drainage. But given the scale of flooding from Hurricane Irene, I guess it makes sense the water levels could have quickly become overwhelming. With all the chaos going on, if Maidie was trying to find higher ground, it makes me wonder how quickly things escalated. Anybody from the area remember the layout and whether there were any potential paths out from the cemetery that wouldn't have been submerged? I've been looking through old maps to get more perspective. It's heartbreaking how the natural landscape might have played such a crucial role in her still being missing.
Hey everyone, I've been diving deep into the Maidie Gibbs case and something that's been nagging at me are the conditions near Woodlawn Cemetery around the time of the flooding. I read somewhere that the floodwaters were particularly strong in that area, and with the cemetery's proximity to the river, I can only imagine how chaotic it must have been. Does anyone have more insight into what the environment was like during the aftermath? Maybe eyewitness accounts or local reports on how the floodwaters behaved there? It seems like that spot was right in the path of destruction, and understanding the terrain better might give us clues about what could have happened to Maidie. Anyone from the area or who remembers that time able to share more details?
