I’ve been following the tragic case of Hamid Thomas, and I can’t stop thinking about how this impacts not just his family, but the whole community around the Drew Hamilton Houses. The courtyard, which should be a place of comfort and community, is now marked by this terrible event. It's scary and so sad to think about how the residents must be feeling – knowing such violence could erupt in a place that's part of their everyday lives. I keep wondering about the role of neighborhood watch or community safety programs. There are already too many senseless acts of violence, and it feels like communities need more support to foster a feeling of safety for all residents. It’s awful to think that someone could be targeted like this, leaving everyone uncertain about who might be responsible or why it happened. I really hope someone comes forward with information soon so there can be some justice and a bit of peace for Hamid’s loved ones. Does anyone know if there have been any talks about implementing more preventive measures or increasing community outreach in that area? It feels important to turn this tragedy into a catalyst for positive change. My heart is with Hamid’s family during this incredibly difficult time.
