I've been trying to wrap my head around the tragedy on Henry Street. It's so unbelievably sad to think about the vibrant lives that were abruptly taken away. Claribel Torres-Duran seemed to have such a warm presence in the community, and knowing she was cherished by so many is telling of the person she was. What gets to me is the role that isolation or unchecked conflict may have played in what happened. It's scary to think that behind closed doors, unresolved issues can escalate to something so catastrophic. It makes me wonder if there were warning signs or cries for help that were missed. The need for strong support networks and accessible resources for families and partners dealing with stress, conflict, or violence feels more urgent than ever. Sending thoughts of peace and support to all those mourning, especially Claribel’s family and friends. These are moments when communities need to come together and lift one another up. ❤️
