The details of Xyere Brooks' case just keep tugging at my heart. It’s absolutely devastating to think about how this young man's life was cut short in such a senseless act. I’ve been following this case for a while, and one aspect that I can’t seem to wrap my head around is the involvement of children so young. How in the world does a 12-year-old even get their hands on a firearm? And the 16-year-old bringing a gun into that home… it makes me so angry thinking about how preventable this was. I can’t imagine how Xyere’s family is coping with this unimaginable loss, knowing it all could have been avoided. I hope this tragedy prompts better conversations about gun safety and access, especially around kids. My heart goes out to Xyere’s family and friends, who must be struggling with this void in their lives. I truly hope the community rallies around them to provide the support they need in such a difficult time.
