I've been reading up on Lacey Buenfil's disappearance, and something that strikes me as odd is the detail about the scent trail ending at U.S. 19. It makes me wonder if someone picked her up after she left the truck. It's hard to believe that no one driving through that area might have seen something or someone potentially offering her a ride didn’t come forward. Plus, with McDowell gone now, any answers he could have provided are lost. I keep thinking how difficult this must be for her kids, not knowing. It feels like someone out there knows something that could finally bring some closure. Are there any other similar cases around that time or area that might be connected?
I was looking at Lacey Buenfil’s case again and didn't McDowell’s health decline quite rapidly before he passed in 2013? I've always wondered if his deteriorating condition had an impact on what he shared (or didn't share) about Lacey's disappearance. It seems odd that he couldn't offer more help to investigators. With him being a person of interest, his silence left such a gap in understanding what might have happened in the forest that day. I know it's been a while, but I'm curious if anyone's looked into whether someone else might have been involved or if there are any additional reports about interactions Lacey might have had with others. It feels like there's an unfinished puzzle here, especially with her scent ending so abruptly on U.S. 19. Could someone have picked her up there? Thoughts?
I've been following Lacey Buenfil's case, and something that's been puzzling me is why she and McDowell were in the Ocala National Forest in the first place. From what I understand, getting stuck on Railroad Grade Road seems like such a random place for two people to end up, especially when most of us wouldn't even drive on those kinds of roads without a good reason. I've heard talk that she might have been meeting someone there or maybe they were just trying to take a shortcut, but either way, it makes this all the more strange.
Also, considering how much Lacey cared for her kids, it seems odd she would just get out and leave without looking back... even if the truck was truly stuck. Could it be possible she was forced to leave, or maybe something else happened but McDowell’s no longer here to tell us what really happened that day? It’s unsettling that someone so young could just vanish this way without a trace. Such a tough case—hoping for a breakthrough. Anyone have theories about why they might've been out there?
