I’ve been following the case of Victor Sanders, and I can’t shake off how it’s left the Brookhaven community reeling. In a small place where everyone knows each other, it’s unimaginable to think someone could’ve done this to Victor. I didn’t know him personally, but from what I’ve heard around town, he was well-liked and had a real presence in our community. Seeing the arrest of Jerrell Thomas so soon has been a whirlwind. It’s chilling to think he lived among us before all this happened. I know the authorities are tight-lipped about the motive, but you have to wonder what led up to such a violent act. It’s just so unsettling that something like this could happen right here, in such a quiet stretch of Mallalieu Drive where families and neighbors feel safe. My thoughts go out to Victor’s family and friends. Facing such a loss and dealing with the uncertainty of why it happened must be incredibly hard. Whatever the investigation reveals, I hope it brings some closure for those who knew and loved Victor. He deserved so much better.
