I've been thinking about Michael Richard Powers and his love for simple things like watching football and baseball. It's a stark reminder of how even the smallest joys can connect us to people we may never meet but can deeply relate to. Sports can be such a grounding force, a way to unwind and feel part of something bigger. I can't help but imagine the camaraderie he must have shared with friends and family during those games, the cheers, and the shared moments of triumph and heartbreak on the field. It's comforting and terribly sad all at once to think about him in this way. Knowing that his life was cut short in such a violent manner is bewildering, especially when he seemed like someone who found happiness in the quiet moments of life. My heart goes out to his loved ones who will no doubt feel his absence during those game days, where his favorite teams are playing. May they find strength in each other and in the memories of the good times they shared with him.
