I’ve been thinking a lot about the vigil held for Carter Bennett. It's clear how much he was loved by his friends and community. Seeing so many people come together to honor his life was really moving. Even though we can't change what happened, witnessing that outpouring of support made me feel like he's still surrounded by love, even in his absence. It's a testament to how deeply he touched those around him.
Everyone seemed to be in such shock and disbelief—how could someone so young and full of life be taken in such a horrible way? The community's response has truly been amazing, though; the memorial outside his home just keeps growing, filled with flowers, candles, and notes from those who knew him and those who didn’t but felt compelled to show support. It's comforting to see his St. Charles High friends coming together, despite their pain, showing what a tight-knit community this is.
I hope the family feels our support, and I hope Carter somehow knows how much he continues to be loved. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
Does anyone else find it difficult to come to terms with the fact that Carter's own mother could do this to him? It’s absolutely impossible to imagine what was going through her mind. Carter sounded like such a vibrant young man. The community’s response, with the vigil and growing memorial, shows just how much he was adored. My thoughts are with his friends and family. I can’t help but think about how his schoolmates must be struggling with such a tragic loss. Schools really need to ensure they have adequate counseling resources during this time. Hoping for some justice and peace for those suffering from this unimaginable tragedy.
