Hey everyone,
I’ve been following the tragic case involving Kayleb Smerer and his family from Port Huron pretty closely, and something that's really stuck with me is the community’s response in the face of such a horrifying tragedy. It's truly phenomenal how friends and neighbors have come together to support the family. From organizing fundraisers for the surviving siblings' medical expenses to the emotional vigils held in Kayleb's memory, it’s amazing to see such a strong sense of community when it’s needed most.
These acts of kindness don't undo the pain and loss, but they seem to be a light in the darkness for the family. It’s comforting to know that even in the worst times, the community can rise up and wrap this family in love and support. It reminds me how crucial it is to look out for and stand by each other.
This must be a tremendously difficult time for everyone involved, and my heart goes out to Kayleb’s friends and family, especially his younger siblings who have such a tough road ahead. I hope they continue to feel the community's support in the days, months, and even years to come.
Stay strong, Port Huron. ?✨
Has anyone else seen those reports about the family trying to intervene right after the attack? It's so chilling to think about what they must have gone through in those moments. The thought that his siblings were still in such grave danger and that their own father was responsible is just beyond comprehension. I can't imagine the trauma that must have been left behind for everyone involved. The bravery of those family members who stepped in likely saved lives, but at such a heavy emotional toll. I hope they're all finding the support they need during this nightmare. Sending strength to everyone affected by this tragedy.
