I’ve been following Kandra Hillard’s case and I keep coming back to the location where this happened. That alley off South St. Lawrence—does anyone here know if it’s a known hotspot for this kind of activity, or is it more of an opportunistic spot for someone passing through? It just seems so random and tragic how things transpired in a place like that. It’s incredibly sad for Kandra and her loved ones. I imagine they must feel lost, not having closure and answers about who did this and why it had to happen there, at that moment. I'm hoping for a break in the case soon. The community deserves that peace of mind, and Kandra deserves justice.
I came across some discussions about Kandra Hillard and felt compelled to share my thoughts, especially considering how close everything happened to my own neighborhood. What struck me initially about this case is the sheer randomness of the violence. How can someone just drive by and unleash such harm, impacting so many lives? Kandra was only 37—she had so much ahead of her. I can't even begin to imagine what her family is going through.
It's concerning that no description of the vehicle or suspects has been released yet. In a neighborhood like Greater Grand Crossing, where community ties run deep, it feels like someone must have seen or heard something. I'm hoping that more people come forward, shedding light on those terrifying moments. It's true what people say: it takes a village. In our city, dense with noise and stories, sometimes it feels like the small, crucial details slip away. We can't let this happen here.
How do we change this narrative from a singular tragedy to a push for safer streets, where senseless acts like this become less frequent? I'll be keeping my eyes on this case, and my heart goes out to everyone who knew Kandra. Let's hope for some progress in the days to come.
