I can't stop thinking about what Lilia's neighbors must be going through. Imagine living next door and not knowing the severity of the situation until it's too late. People have mentioned how friendly and warm she was, always with a smile and willing to lend a hand. It’s gut-wrenching to realize that behind that kindness, she was carrying such heavy burdens in silence. The presence of that restraining order is haunting. It clearly shows that she was trying to reach out for help, trying to reclaim her safety. How many more warning signs do we all miss in our own neighborhoods? We often think it could never happen close to us, but this tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the hidden struggles many face. My heart goes out to her family and friends. I hope they find some peace and healing as they remember her strength and kindness. This should be a wake-up call for all of us to be more vigilant, to listen and support those who hint at troubles behind closed doors. Lilia deserved better, and we owe it to her and others in similar situations to do better.

It's so tragic to hear about what happened to Lilia Garibay-Quijas. I can't stop thinking about how that restraining order was found at the scene. It just makes you wonder about the fear and anxiety she must have been feeling in the days leading up to this awful event. That piece of paper tells a story of someone trying to find a way to feel safe in their own home, and it’s gut-wrenching that it wasn’t enough. I hope her family knows there are people out here who care and who are keeping them in their thoughts during this unimaginably difficult time. Domestic violence is such a pervasive issue, and it's painful to see how it can end so tragically for many victims. This community, and any community really, needs to find better ways to support people in dangerous situations like this one. Rest in peace, Lilia.
