Has anyone else noticed how discussions about cases involving domestic violence often overlook the role of early intervention and support systems? In the tragic situation with Romeca Meeks-Blackmon, it’s clear there was some history between her and the alleged shooter, Quadajah Johnson. It makes me wonder if there were missed opportunities for intervention that could have de-escalated tensions before they reached this tragic outcome. I’m thinking about the prevention side—especially with what could be done at the community level to provide better support for individuals who may be at risk. We often talk about justice after the fact, but prevention should be part of the conversation too, don’t you think? It’s tough knowing there's a little boy who has to face such a profound loss, and I genuinely hope he and his family receive the support they need to heal. Sending strength to them during this difficult time.
