I’ve been following the developments surrounding Kendrick Mason's tragic shooting, and it’s so deeply upsetting for everyone involved, especially his family and friends. I feel compelled to talk about the safety aspects of target shooting after learning about the case. It's crucial for anyone participating to have proper training and awareness of their surroundings.
From what I gather, Kendrick and his friends were just out for a regular day, never imagining the turn it would take. It’s alarming how quickly things can change in such settings, even if you think you’re being careful. Accidents happen, but each casualty is a person lost too soon. My heart truly goes out to Kendrick's loved ones who are left trying to make sense of it all.
Also, I hope others who engage in similar activities take this as a serious reminder to implement stringent safety measures. We should all advocate for better regulations or education around such activities to prevent future tragedies.
I'm hopeful that whatever additional investigating the Delaware State Police are doing will bring some clarity for Kendrick's family, though nothing can really make it easier. If anyone knows more about effective safety practices or has suggestions for resources in the Delaware area, it might be helpful to share them here.

Helo, I am Kendricks mother and have plenty of truthful details from his best friend who was present. This was in no way an accident. Kendrick had a membership at shooters choice where him, his dad and I attended together. The day the boys we do not know personally because he had just met them ,although we knew all his friend. His best friend told us the boys picked him up and stated they did not have the money to go to shooters choice and knew where they could go for free. One of the boys told Kendrick he wanted to purchase the gun for his birthday . In fact after Kendrick was murdered a gun site arrived at our home with the boy who killed him name on it. Kendrick has training and certification in safe handling and shooting. He was kind and felt every young man should know how to use a weapon properly.where as the boys stated they wanted to learn. The detective stated Kendrick was loading a Glock but shot with a 9 millimeter. Both weapons belonged to him. He also had recently posted on social media a handful of money because he’d just sold his car. The detective went on vacation twice during this investigation for at least a week at a time but a few days after his murder. The best friend told us the boys threatened his life after he called 911 to not talk. The best friend said he didn’t see anything because he was taking a piss but did say Kendrick was loading a Glock 9 and his 9 millimeter was next to him on top of the gun case. The best friend also told my husband and I he was afraid and the boys had taken the guns and began to leave when he said where are you going and they said leave him there. He was already on the phone with the 911 operator who told him not to administer CPR. The boys heard the police sirens and ran back to the scene and said we all have to have the same story. Two of the boys told the lie and the shooter came with an attorney and pleaded the 5th. No charges were filed. No crime scene was protected, no police camera footage was viewed, the 24/7 surveillance camera that we were told somehow did not catch the murder. When I asked the detective ‘So I could just take someone in the woods and shoot them, as long as there are no honest witnesses and I plead the 5th, if caught ;I could just be free.”his response was ‘There’s a lot of woods in Delaware” My son was murdered, there was no accident here just a cover up.

Thank you for telling your story. This is such an injustice. I would also believe the best friend over 2 guys he didn't know. I hope some day someone will take this case seriously and you will get justice for your son.

I've been thinking a lot about Kendrick Mason and the impact this tragedy must have on his loved ones. It's incredibly difficult to lose someone so young and full of potential. I wonder if there are enough precautionary measures in place during these kinds of informal shooting activities. This was no accident, this was not a target practice. It was supposed to be at shooters choice. Kendrick was picked up a driven to the woods by the killers who claimed they had no money to go to the proper place to learn gun safety, which they contacted KENDRICK to teach them. The precautionary measure that was stated by the detective is there were 24/7 running cameras at that location.Hopefully this homicide case can be concluded and a prosecution can occur. Also the investigators will prioritize the cases they accept over the vacations they planned. Death has no schedule and I pray you never have to experience this tragedy or explain the truth to people who make asinine comments.
