I've been following the case of Willie James Johnson III since it happened, and something that's been nagging at me is the location where he was found. Clarendon Avenue, and especially around the 1820 block, has had its issues, like many places, with abandoned structures and crime. It's a spot that’s often a backdrop for unfortunate events. I'm really curious if the city is planning any efforts to address the safety of this area. It's hard not to think about how these neglected places can turn into havens for criminal activity. Thinking about his family and the community, it’s essential they feel supported. Bessemer has experienced too many young lives lost to violence. Improving community safety seems like a critical step in reducing crime rates and offering some semblance of closure to families torn apart by such tragedies. My thoughts are with Willie's loved ones as they continue to push for justice and for a safer environment for everyone.
