Has anyone been following the case of Patricia Wheat Odoms? Her story really resonates with me, and I can't stop thinking about how she was known as such a gentle presence in her community. It's unsettling to think about how her kindness was met with such violence. I’m trying to wrap my head around the fact that the person indicted, Walter Lee Thames Sr., lived near her neighborhood. It's terrifying to think that someone she might have crossed paths with could have ended her life so tragically. Does anyone know if there were any interactions between Pat and Walter before the incident? I wonder if they ever exchanged a friendly word or if she helped him out like she did with so many others in the community. It breaks my mind to consider how safety can feel so fragile, and how someone who spent their life caring for others faced such a devastating end. Pat seemed to be a genuinely caring individual who touched many lives in Mobile, and my heart goes out to her family and friends who must be dealing with unimaginable loss right now.
