I recently came across the tragic story of Keith Daven Crotwell, and I can't stop thinking about how devastating it must have been for his family and friends to not know what happened for so long. I was struck by the fact that Keith was last seen getting into a car with Randy Kraft, who was on the loose for years before his capture. It's chilling that there was still an inability to prosecute Kraft for Keith's murder initially, despite such strong implications. It's also haunting to consider how many young men fell victim to Kraft during his decade-long spree. Imagine being a parent or friend in the 1970s, knowing your loved one fit the profile of Kraft’s victims, but having to live with uncertainty because the justice system couldn't act without a body or cause of death. At the very least, I hope knowing the truth now brings some measure of peace to Keith’s family. These kinds of stories remind us of the importance of persistent advocacy for victims, so they aren’t forgotten when the headlines fade.

I was just reading about Keith Crotwell's tragic story, and one detail that really stuck with me is how close Randy Kraft was to getting away with this horrific crime for so long. It must have been so incredibly frustrating for Keith's family and friends during those early years when there wasn't enough evidence to charge Kraft despite their suspicions. I can't imagine the pain of not only losing a loved one but also the added agony of seeing the suspected murderer walk free because of legal technicalities. It's infuriating to think how many lives might have been saved if justice had come earlier. My heart goes out to all who knew Keith. I hope they found some solace when Kraft was finally brought to justice for his monstrous acts.
