It's devastating to think about how the Waffle House shooting could have unfolded so differently if Travis Reinking hadn't had access to those guns. I've been following Akilah DaSilva's story, and the fact that his potential was cut short due to such preventable circumstances is deeply disturbing. His talent and passion for music were evident, and even posthumously, his tracks continue to inspire many. It's a bittersweet reminder of what we've lost. I commend his family for their relentless pursuit of justice and awareness—transforming their grief into a driving force for change is no small feat. Standing by them, and remembering Akilah, can hopefully push forward the conversations we need to have about mental health and gun responsibility. How many lives must be affected before real change is made?
