It's baffling to me how certain details in Paul's case have fallen through the cracks. One thing that's always struck me as odd is the way Ruebottom handled the Jeep. If Paul drove it back home, why did Ruebottom keep it for hours before contacting anyone? It feels like there's an overlooked clue there regarding his true intentions or potential involvement. What was he doing during those hours? And why would someone just leave personal belongings like a wallet in a vehicle unless something unexpected happened? It's puzzling that, even after all these years, we don't have more insight into Ruebottom's actions that night. Maybe re-examining any surveillance possibilities or papers from that time could shed some light on his movements post-shift. Anyone else agree that this might be a thread worth tugging on again?

Hi. I’m new to this site. I came across it by accident last night. Paul is my big brother. This month is 50 years since his disappearance. Ruebottom was a family friend—his parents and ours were friends. That is, until Paul disappeared. The first time my mother laid eyes on him after that, she said she felt in her bones that he was the reason Paul was gone. He was suspected by the police, too. They could just never get enough evidence on him to hold him. We don’t believe he ever made it home that night. His wallet may have been in the Jeep, but Paul himself never rode home in it.

Other things about Ruebottom’s character came out later that were not public record. Needless to say, the friendship with his parents was destroyed, their social circle broken as friends took different sides, My parents moved us away from Ft. Lauderdale a few years later— it was too painful for them to stay. Ruebottom was like a wrecking ball to our family.

There is a source link for this case posted: Unfound “Truly Diabolical” on YouTube. Many more details are in that video. The podcaster interviewed me for hours one night a few years ago. The video doesn’t seem to have been cut down much, so it’s long. But it may answer some questions about Ruebottom.

I've been following Paul Gregory Egan's case for a while, and something that's been bugging me is the role of the Jeep. It's unsettling how Ruebottom drove it around for hours before finally reporting him missing. Does anyone else find this suspicious? It seems odd to me that someone would borrow a car like that, especially with personal belongings left inside and without informing authorities right away. There's always the chance that Ruebottom knew more than he let on, but with his untimely death, we might never get clarity. What do others here think? Could the Jeep hold more answers than we've been led to believe?
Has anyone else looked into the strange circumstances around Norman Ruebottom's death? I find it really peculiar that he died in 1977 under such bizarre circumstances involving anesthetic gas. I’m not saying there's necessarily a direct connection to Paul's disappearance, but it does make you wonder if there were people who felt Ruebottom knew too much or if it was just an eerie coincidence. I haven’t come across much detail about his accident except that it was unusual. Would love to hear thoughts or if anyone has found more information on what actually happened to Ruebottom. It's been eating away at me given how closely tied he was to Paul.
