Hey everyone, I recently came across Laurie Jean Amico's case from 1976 and it got me thinking about the area where she was last seen. Fort Lauderdale in the '70s was a wild place, especially with Spring Break attracting so many people from all over. I wonder if the influx of tourists during that time made it harder to track who might have seen Laurie that day. Just thinking out loud here, but could the busy season have contributed to her disappearance, like maybe an encounter with an out-of-towner? It’s something that might have been overlooked or hard to trace back in the day. Would love to hear if anyone has insights on how cases from tourist-heavy areas are approached differently due to the sheer volume of people coming and going. Could there be untapped angles with looking into visitors back then?
I've always been fascinated by the older cold cases, and Laurie Jean Amico's disappearance is one that really sticks with me. I came across it while doing some research on missing persons from the 70s. Does anyone else think it's odd that there seems to be so little information about her life before the day she went missing? I mean, her last known location was just the drugstore near her house, but what about her friends, family, daily routines, or any potential struggles she might have been facing? It feels like there are so many gaps that make it difficult to piece anything together. Maybe if we could dig into her past, we might find something that stands out or leads to a new direction. Thoughts?
Does anyone else find it odd that there seems to be so little information about where Laurie was before she vanished? I've been digging through old news articles and forums, and it strikes me that no one in the reports ever mentioned seeing her at the drugstore or on the way there. It's as if she just disappeared into thin air, and there's no one who came forward to say they saw her around that time. I can't help but wonder if there were any surveillance cameras at the time that might have caught something, or maybe there's someone out there who saw her and didn't realize it was important. It just feels like there must be something—or someone—that's been overlooked. Anyone with access to old neighborhood records or witnesses around Fort Lauderdale back in '76? Any small detail could help piece together where she was or what might have happened to her.
