I've been following the discussions about the Cathay Terrace incident, and something that always stands out to me is how deeply interconnected the lives of the people involved were. Has anyone dug into the stories of the victims aside from John O'Dell? I'm particularly interested in Dorothy Johnston's background. It's always intriguing (and terribly sad) to think about how a seemingly ordinary day at work ended in such tragedy.
We often focus on the shooter in these discussions—and rightly so for understanding the full context of the crime—but remembering who Dorothy was, what her dreams might have been, and how she touched the lives of those around her is equally important. From what I've gathered, she was known for her kindness and had been a longtime employee at the restaurant. Remembering the victims as more than just names on a list truly keeps their memories alive.
If anyone knew Dorothy or has any stories about her vibrant life before the tragedy, I'd love to hear and share in remembering her beyond just the victim narrative. We owe it to her family and friends to celebrate her life.
