Hey everyone,
I wanted to bring up a different angle of the Cathay Terrace tragedy that hasn't been discussed much. It's often easy to focus on the horrific event itself, but I think it's important to remember the folks behind these headlines—real people with families and dreams.
I did some digging and found out that Dorothy Johnston, one of the victims, was actually a passionate gardener and was involved in her local community garden. It seems she brought a lot of joy through her hobby, sharing vegetables and flowers with neighbors and promoting eco-friendly practices. What a loss to the community and her family to have that taken away in such a violent and senseless act.
I can't imagine the pain her family went through, not just losing her but losing the lively, nurturing spirit she brought into their lives. Just wanted to remember Dorothy not just as a name in a headline, but as a vibrant person who was so much more than just a victim.
Sending love to all those who knew and miss her. ??
Feel free to share if you know more about any of the other victims. Let's keep their memories alive.
I’ve been doing some digging into the tragic event at Lee’s Cathay Terrace. One aspect that really stands out to me is the ripple effect it must have had on Warwick. To lose four community members so suddenly and violently is unimaginable. I wasn't around in '78, but I grew up hearing about how tight-knit that neighborhood used to be. I can only assume that tragedy left a scar on many families, not just the ones directly affected.
It's chilling to think how one man’s actions altered so many lives forever. I truly hope Robert Lee, Dorothy Johnston, John O’Dell, and Danny Linn have not been forgotten in their community, and that their stories continue to be told so that they’re remembered as more than just victims of a senseless crime. My heart goes out to the families who had to endure such a devastating loss. It's crucial that we keep discussions like this alive to honor all they went through.
