I've been following the case of Juliana Frank, and something that's really been bothering me is the role of the media in influencing such brutal crimes. We know that Nathaniel White reenacted a scene from RoboCop 2 with Juliana's tragic murder, which makes me wonder about the psychological impact of violent films on those who are already inclined towards violence. While most people can separate fiction from reality, it seems there are individuals who get desensitized or even inspired by what they see on screen.
It's just so difficult to wrap my head around how someone could commit such an unimaginable act. My heart goes out to Juliana's family and friends who not only lost her in such a terrible way but also have to live with the knowledge of how and why it happened. They must still be grappling with a multitude of emotions, from anger towards the perpetrator to frustration with the bigger systems in place that might have failed to prevent this.
I'm curious to hear others’ thoughts on this. Do you think media plays a significant role in crimes like this, or is it more about the individual's pre-existing tendencies?
