Does anyone else find the detail about the open Coke machine and the broken six-pack of sodas haunting? It's strange how small things like that can really paint a picture of what happened during those awful moments. I can only imagine what Cheryl might have been thinking or feeling at the time. Was she startled by someone coming in from the storm? Did she see the danger before it was too late? The imagery just breaks my spirit. Such an ordinary scene turned horrific in an instant. My thoughts are with her family and friends, who have lived through this nightmare every day since 1976. It serves as a reminder of how crucial it is to push for safety measures in public spaces, even convenience stores.
