I've been reading up on the tragic case of Brent Alan Baldes, and I can't help but think about how life can change in the blink of an eye. Brent had just moved to Las Vegas from Honolulu, probably looking to start fresh and maybe find new opportunities. It's so sad to think that anyone heading to a new city with hopes and dreams could end up in such a terrible situation. The fact that the details of the dispute are still murky must be incredibly difficult for his family and friends who are left with more questions than answers. It just makes me wish there was more focus on preventing violence so that tragedies like this could be avoided. My heart goes out to those who knew him, grappling with the loss amidst a rise in city-wide violence at that time.
