The tragic case of Patricia Berry and the other young women targeted by the same sadistic individual is something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. One aspect that stands out is the role of eyewitnesses and surviving victims. It's so moving how some of these brave individuals were able to step forward and identify the suspect, James Walraven, despite the trauma they endured. Their courage in testifying about what they witnessed not only gave the investigation a breakthrough but also lent voices to the victims who were no longer with us. I can't imagine the strength it took for them to relive those terrifying moments, all to seek justice for victims they may not have even known personally. It's a reminder of how crucial community participation can be in solving such heinous crimes. My heart goes out to all the families and survivors involved — what an unfathomable journey it must have been to navigate through such pain and fear. They truly deserve every ounce of strength and support the community can offer.
