I’ve been thinking about John Clifton Ballenger’s case and one aspect that doesn’t get discussed as much is the timing and the odd coincidence of the movie he went missing during—*Star Wars*. It was such a huge cultural phenomenon at the time, and part of me wonders if cinemas were more crowded than usual, providing the perfect opportunity for someone to snatch him unnoticed, if that’s what happened. Packed theaters equal chaos, and it would have been easy for someone to slip away unnoticed or for other theater-goers to simply assume he'd gotten lost among the crowd. Also, the cultural obsession could've attracted all kinds of different characters to the area. I'm curious if anyone has insight into how full that theater was that night or if there were any reports of suspicious activity around local cinemas during such premieres in '77? It's a long shot, but sometimes the vibe of the surrounding events can play a bigger role in disappearances than we initially think. ?️♂️✨
