Has anyone else been thinking about the role of fear in Bernard Fonder's tragic case? It hits me that he must have been living with such anxiety and concern in the days leading up to his murder. I can't imagine how unsettling it must have been for him to feel the need to hand over a note to his neighbors. It really underscores the terror he must have felt knowing someone with ill intentions might come after him.
And then there's the fact that he left details about that former roommate, anticipating something could happen. It’s so chilling but also shows how brave he was in trying to protect himself and perhaps aid future investigations. I hope those who knew and loved Bernard can find some comfort in knowing that he did what he could to prevent his fate and that justice was eventually served. Plus, it’s good to see that the system was able to connect the dots and capture the real perpetrator despite the initial missteps. But wow, just realizing he went through this sends shivers down my spine. Let's keep his family in our thoughts as they surely still grapple with this.
