Jeffrey Lee Stinnett, 21, was last seen in Ann Arbor, Michigan on January 11, 1978. He was described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches, 140–160 pounds, with brown wavy hair, blue eyes and a possible space between his two front teeth. At the time he was wearing a homemade leather belt decorated with flowers and his name Jeff.

Jeffrey had attended the University of Michigan briefly, then worked at a gas station and later a lithograph company. He reportedly quit his job before vanishing. Those who knew him said his behavior had become unusual in the months before his disappearance: his sister recalled odd comments about angels during a Christmas 1977 visit, that he gave away possessions saying he no longer needed them, and there were indications he may have been experimenting with LSD. His apartment on Packard Road contained his personal belongings when checked, and a report to police was not filed until April 19, 1978; the person who filed it said Jeffrey had been missing about seven days.

The Ann Arbor Police Department has kept case number 78-14040 open. Remains found in various places over the years have been excluded as matches. Does anyone have memories of Jeffrey in Ann Arbor in late 1977 or January 1978, or information that could help investigators?
