Has anyone else seen the theory floating around about how Billy Gene Harris might have had some inside help? I was digging through some old forums and found a few people suggesting that maybe someone close to the Cheshewallas tipped him off about what valuables they had at the house. We all know that Joseph was well liked in the team roping community and Maude was a respected historian, but sometimes it's the people you least expect.
I can't help but wonder if someone in their circle might have known more than they let on. The fact that items taken were so specific makes me think the burglars knew exactly what they were looking for. Remember, some of the items were found at Harris' place, so he wasn't just randomly picking things. There’s a lot about this case that points to premeditation rather than a spontaneous act.
My heart really goes out to Joe, having to find his parents like that. It must have been incredibly traumatic, and I hope he's been able to find some peace over the years. Do you guys think there's any merit to the idea that Harris might have had an accomplice who was close to the family, or is it just speculation at this point?
It's been decades, and I still can't get over the loss of such cherished individuals in our community. Joseph and Maude Cheshewalla were pillars of strength and wisdom, each leaving an irreplaceable legacy behind. While many discussions focus on the grim details, my mind often drifts to the son, Joe Cheshewalla. Discovering your parents like that, especially after what's presumably a normal day at a calf-roping event, must be unimaginable. I hope he’s found some peace through the years and that our community continues to support him. Does anyone know if there have been any recent memorials or events honoring their contributions to our history and culture?
