I’ve been thinking a lot about the time of day when Jenny was last heard from. She made those phone calls around 5:15 p.m., and that window of time seems crucial. It was right after school, a time when many parents are still at work and some kids are out playing or doing after-school activities. It must have been such a busy yet normal day for most people in the neighborhood, unaware of the tragedy unfolding nearby.
What's particularly unsettling is how brief that window is—from 5:15 to when her father got home at 6:45. If you consider that, someone might have been watching the house, knowing she was alone. It's chilling to think about the calculated nature of it, and how someone could have blended into the late afternoon hum of daily life without raising any suspicions.
I can’t imagine the agony her family must feel, replaying those small increments of time, wondering how someone could just come and take away such a promising young life in such a peaceful community. It’s been nearly 30 years, and that short span of time between when Jenny was last heard from to when she was found holds so many unanswered questions. If anyone in the community has memories of that day or saw anything unusual back then, however slight it seemed, it might still bring some clarity or lead to answers.
