Hi everyone, I’ve spent a lot of time looking into the details of Sandy Seligman’s disappearance back in 1980 and something keeps bugging me—what happened to that Colombian emerald he mentioned to his mom? He said it was a gift for her, right before he was supposed to head back to Vancouver. This is a pretty unusual purchase for someone on vacation, don’t you think? Emeralds, especially ones from Colombia, can be incredibly expensive and are often associated with a fair amount of risk if you’re not buying from a trusted source. Could it be possible that someone targeted him specifically because of that emerald? Maybe someone at the motel or rental agency overheard or saw it and decided to take advantage? It just feels like an unexplored angle—I haven't seen it discussed much. If anyone knows more details about the emerald or has insights on where he might have bought it, that might shed some light on what happened to Sandy. Thoughts?
