I recently stumbled across the case of Paula Perrera, and I can't stop thinking about her hitchhiking habit. I know times were different back then, but it's tough knowing she ignored her boyfriend's warnings. It's a reminder of how different life was in the early '80s, and there's something haunting about how vulnerable young people were just trying to get around. It breaks my heart that Paula's trust was so terribly betrayed by someone like Michael Ross. How many parents must have been on edge during that time, thinking about their kids on the road relying on the kindness of strangers? I really feel for Paula's family and friends who had to relive the trauma when Ross was finally linked to her murder years later. I hope they found some peace knowing that justice, albeit delayed, was served. It's just so unsettling to think of what she went through, and I wish her story could've turned out differently.
