Has anyone done a deep dive into the possible places Donald might have gone back in '81, especially with his history of heading toward his sister in Wyoming? I find it strange that the case sat inactive for so long. It's almost like there was an assumption he'd eventually turn up on his own, given his runaway history. But what about the "fort" he mentioned to his friends? Has anyone got info on whether that place was looked into, or if it was a known hangout for him? I wonder if investigators found anything there back in the day or if it's been rechecked since the case reopened. The delay in the case opening must have lost valuable time for searching and potential witness accounts. If anyone has any insight into how such cases were handled back in '81 that might explain the hold-up, I'd be interested to hear it.
