Hey everyone,
I've been reading through this forum and wanted to bring up something that really struck me about Sandra Gabbert's case. It's just so incredibly sad to think about how she was only 17 and had already faced so many challenges. Dropping out of high school must have been difficult, especially knowing she was a star basketball player. I can't help but wonder what might have been if her life had taken a different path.
It's clear Sandra had a close bond with her mom, and I imagine her free spirit and friendly nature made her someone people gravitated towards. I just hope her family found some measure of peace knowing Ridgway was finally caught, though nothing can truly bring back what they've lost.
Does anyone know if Sandra's mom or any of her friends have shared more about her life and personality? I think remembering who she was beyond the tragedy is so important.
Sending warmth and strength to Sandra's loved ones. ❤️
I was recently reading about Sandra Kay Gabbert's case and something truly struck me about her life before she went missing. It seems like the world lost not just a talented young athlete, but also a vibrant soul who was known for her friendly nature. Imagine being a star basketball player with a promising future and then having life take such a dark turn. I can't get over how her promising path shifted so dramatically, ultimately leading her into dangerous situations.
It's just so sad that her caring relationship with her mother wasn't enough to keep her on a safer path. I always wonder if there was anyone else around her who could have recognized the risk signs and done something to help. Could a teacher, a coach, or a friend have made a difference? It's difficult to come to terms with how society often overlooks young people in trouble.
May Sandra and the other victims rest in peace, and I hope they've found the justice that eluded them for so long.
Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the families of Gary Ridgway's victims, especially Sandra Kay Gabbert's. I can't imagine what it must have been like for Sandra's mom, seeing her daughter's life take a difficult turn and then living in limbo for an entire year before finally getting the tragic news.
The bond between a mother and daughter can be incredibly strong, and from what I've read, Sandra's mother seemed to be a significant part of her life. They apparently had a close relationship despite the challenges Sandra was facing. It's unfortunate that Sandra's story ended the way it did, especially when she had so much potential. She could've gone places with her basketball talent and friendly nature.
It's a cruel reminder of how dangerous that time was, and unfortunately how some, like Sandra, got pulled into horrible circumstances. Keeping the memories of these women alive is so important. They deserve our compassion and respect, as do the families who have carried this burden for decades.
Has anyone come across more info about the support networks in place back then for families like Sandra's? It would be interesting to know how these situations were approached back then, both legally and emotionally.
Thinking of all the families today.
Stay safe, everyone.
